About Me

With over 20 years in education, my approach to dyslexia is built on a blend of professional strategy and personal, lived experience. From my work as a national Education Consultant with the Teacher Training Agency and SEN Governor to my years in the classroom, I’ve seen the education system from every angle.

However, my deepest insights come from my own home. As a mother of four neurodivergent children, I know firsthand what life looks like beyond the school gates - the late-night homework battles, the emotional ups and downs, and the constant search for answers.

I founded Dyslexia and Education Support to bridge the gap between high-level educational expertise and the everyday realities families face. When you work with me, you won't just get a report to put in a folder - you’ll get clear, practical guidance that turns understanding into action so your child can truly thrive.

Professional Background & Experience

Strategic Consulting & School Support

• National Education Specialist: I previously worked alongside the Teacher Training Agency to help recruit, retain, and support exceptional educators across the country.

• School-Wide Literacy Initiatives: I’ve designed and led whole-school reading programs, making sure effective literacy support reaches every student who needs it.

• SEN Governance: As an SEN Governor, I help school leadership teams build truly inclusive environments from the top down.

Specialist Teaching & Individual Support

• Trauma-Informed & Specialist Tutoring: Having worked as a tutor for Looked After Children, children in care, and students with special educational needs (SEND), my approach to tutoring combines targeted academic progress with gentle, trauma-informed emotional support to provide bespoke lessons for each child.

• Secondary School Experience: With experience as a secondary History teacher, cover supervisor, and in-school tutor across various subjects, I understand the heavy reading demands students face throughout secondary school and how to support them across the whole curriculum.

I am fully qualified to carry out diagnostic assessments that are nationally recognized by schools, universities, and exam boards. My formal qualifications include:

• Assessment Practising Certificate (APC): The gold standard for specialist dyslexia assessors.

• Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Assessing Dyslexia (Distinction) – Canterbury Christ Church University

• Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA)

• Full Member of PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties)

• SASC Compliant: All diagnostic assessments meet strict national standards for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
