My Story

With over 20 years of experience, my approach to dyslexia is built on a unique blend of professional strategy and personal lived experience. From my work as a national Education Consultant and SEN Governor to my time in the classroom, I have seen the education system from every angle.

However, my deepest insights come from home. As a mother of four neurodivergent children, I understand the "kitchen table" reality of the SEN journey. I founded this consultancy to bridge the gap between high-level educational expertise and the real-world needs of families and schools. I don’t just provide a report; I provide a roadmap to ensure every learner has the tools to thrive.

Expertise & Qualifications

My practice is backed by academic and professional credentials:

  • PG Certificate in Teaching and Assessing Dyslexia (Distinction): Canterbury Christchurch University.

  • APC (Assessment Practising Certificate): The industry-standard license for specialist assessors.

  • AMBDA: Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association.

  • Full member of PATOSS.

  • BA (Hons) Classical Studies: University of Reading.

  • SASC-Compliant: All diagnostic reports meet the rigorous national standards for SpLD assessment.

Professional Background

Strategic Consultancy & Teacher Training

  • National Education Consultant: Worked with the Teacher Training Agency (TTA) to improve the recruitment and retention of high-quality educators. This involved advising on entry pathways, advising on national publication materials, and training new consultants.

  • School-Wide Reading Intervention: Designed, implemented, and delivered comprehensive reading programs across an entire school setting, ensuring literacy support reached every student who needed it.

Specialist Teaching & Intervention

  • Trauma-Informed Specialist Support: Acted as a specialist tutor for Looked After and Internationally Adopted Children (LAIC). I designed bespoke English interventions that combined academic progress with essential trauma-informed emotional support.

  • Secondary Expertise: Experience teaching History to KS3, allowing me to understand the specific literacy demands of "heavy-reading" subjects in secondary school.

  • SEN Governance: Providing strategic oversight and advocacy at the board level to ensure inclusive practice is woven into the fabric of the school.
